I integrate technology in the classroom during science labs. Students virtually fly through space with the use of a program called Starry Night Middle School and graph their motion with motion detectors and a Program called venier probware.
I use technology in many different ways in my classroom. Just today, I introduced Photo Story to my students for them to do their quarterly book talks. One aspect of technology that I now could not live without in my classroom is my SMART board. Both my students and I are obsessed with it and are constantly amazed by all of the features. My students are much more engaged when they have opportunities to interact with the board. I have access to laptops every day with my students and they use them for various applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. In the next few months, I am supposed to have access to a blog with my students for their reader's notebooks where they write about their independent reading. Both my students and I are looking forward to this!
I find interactive educational on-line games or simulations that match the curriculum. Students use the sites independently to expand their knowledge or test what they know. They love using these sites.
I use technology in my class almost daily. Each day I begin by taking attendance on an Internet grade program. I then teach a lesson using either an interactive flip chart (created on ActiveInspire) or a PowerPoint. These two mediums offer students to opportunity to not only hear and see the information, but to do so in an ever changing way using images, different fonts, color, and sound. I also use a great deal of video clips from youtube to reinforce certain concepts. Since my district blocks a great number of video sites I transfer all the online videos to Quicktime using either zamzar.com or keepvid.com. These sites make is possible to view the videos forever...as long as it is saved somewhere safe! I also use my document camera constantly. Over the years I feel that technology has advanced so quickly that I have gotten rid of my TV, VCR, and overhead projector. Out with the old... In with the new!
I use technology fairly reguarly. As a PE teacher, I use many tools to help kids understand thier health and fitness levels. My favorites are Heart Rate Monitors, pedometers, Body composition monitors. These provide specific and personal data for students.
Ok, so I am re-commenting. Besides watching videos or using Google Earth to take students to other countries, I also use a tablet at my guided reading table to allow students to hear the stories in a small group setting.
Our school is two years new. It was designed before the economic crumble so the technology that was installed into the plan was quite amazing. The computer lab is state of the art, laptops on carts and projection cameras in the ceiling to use with tablets for each classroom. I have been using the tablet recently to allow the kids to come up and work mathproblems. It gets them excited and they buy into it more so than doing them on the whiteboard. I also using streaming videos from Discovery for a variety of mini lessons in science, math and language arts. These are just a few ideas of technology used in my instruction.
I integrate technology in various ways within my classroom. I have taught lessons to my students with SmartBoard technology, Windows Movie Maker, PowerPoint, hyperlink presentations, and internet scavenger hunts in the past couple of years. I have used these programs to help engage students in the lesson and to demonstrate technology that they would use in projects. I have also used Scantron test data to target instruction for my students.
In addition, I have had students use various forms of technology for class projects such as: 1. Garage Band to create radio plays and advertisements. 2. I Movie to create documentaries and advertisements. 3. Comic Life to create print advertisements and posters. 4. Smart Boards to create lessons for their peers. 5. PowerPoint to enhance the learning of their classmates. 6. Screenwriter software to write screenplays. 7. Web boards to continue class discussions on books during breaks. 8. Wikis to communicate with class. 9. You Tube for presentations.
I use my tablet computer and projector in my 8th grade math class. Students are begging to be the one to show their extended response on the tablet. They love to use it! I also use a balance scale applet to teach solving equations.
I integrate technology into my classroom in a variety of ways. Most recently, I've had a smart board put up in my room. I've created flip charts and interactive activities to engage my students in their learning. I've also used a tablet computer quite extensively in giving notes, drawing diagrams, or even playing games like Pictionary. I also have transferred many of my lecture notes, vocabulary terms, and even lab report instructions into powerpoint presentations. I find the more active my students are in their learning, they more they do indeed learn!
I teach in a Synergistic Lab and the whole curriculum is accessed on computer. Students use third party software such stop motion, morphing, mapping, CAD, throughout the modules.
I integrate technology in the classroom through the use of Inspiration, research projects where the internet is used, and Essay Scorer. I use Inspiration to help students create outlines for papers they are writing, my students write a research paper on a topic from the 60's each year and research a national park using websites, and I use Essay Scorer to assess my studetns papers.
I use Technology everyday in my library as it plays an integral part of my daily activities. On the administrative side, all my ordering is completed online with various vendors and creating purchase orders. Most importantly, all the work I do with staff and students in assisting them to locate information for various projects and assignments is all web based. I create class projects pages for teachers for the students to use when they are in our computer lab as jumping off point to find information without conducting random Google searches. This also promotes our subscription databases, which are valuable tools for authoritative information.
I embrace technology and can not imagine my life without it, but I believe the challenge facing teachers today it to effectively train students on how to use this invaluable resource. Although the students today came out of the womb and logged on, I believe they do not evaluate the information they find, thus trusting what they read. If we can teach students to question what make one resource better than another, then I feel we truly have 21st Century learners.
I am creating adapted lessons for my special needs students. One of their goals is to learn how to tie their shoes. Here is a website that has animated the process. http://www.freedomknot.com
I try to find software that reinforces skills taught in the classroom, or skills being addressed through the IEP. I do have students working with Lexia, as well as Alphasmarts on a weekly basis.
I use technology everyday in my classroom. I start the day by taking attendance on Grade Quick. I use my Vision software to lock my Keyboarding students out of the internet, and use Microsoft Office Suites and Publisher in my Computer Applications and Desktop Publishing classes.
I use technology usually on an everyday basis. Whether it be taking attendance on our web-based program, my Ipod for music in the dance classes, or using my Mac to create a Slide show of my students photos. I find the students of this generation are way more engaged when I use it and are excited to incorporate their own technology into class as well.
I teach technology so I integrate technology into all subject areas as much as I can. One way I have used technology with another subject area is that I had my students create a Google Site page about different battles in the Civil War in 8th grade and the 7th graders created travel site about a country using Google Sites. I use many different technologies with my students including podcasting, movie making, LEGO robotics programming, Google Sketchup creating 3D designs, Glogster posters, creating avatars and speaking avatars, research techniques and much more.

I teach technology and integrate the subject areas with each assignment and project. I also collborate with teachers and work with them to bring more technology into the classroom. With the tech team in my district we have written several grants to get advanced technology and continue to do so. With technology always changing there is something new that is wanted to supplement the curriculum.
I use technology in my classroom when ever it is possible. Right now I am lucky enough to have a smart board so we try to use it as much as possible every day with power point presentations and group excel projects. I would love to see more technology though. Ayannah J.
Courtney G, I intergrate technology in my classroom on a daily basis. I use computers, digital cameras, scanners, and video editing equipment. I hope to learn more about the technology resources that are out there!
Maureen L. I integrate technology in my Algebra class by bringing in TInspire calculators. These are mini computers and the students show me something new every time! In Geometry I have been using Smartboard and creating my own lessons as well as finding materials for it online. Most of the students love this form of hands on learning.
Recently, I have integrated technology in the classroom by creating a virtual discussion board. I have had students post comments/questions and also post on real world mathematical applications. Also, during this past school year, I have begun to use my tablet as a direct instruction teaching tool as well. I feel that kids respond well to this form of modernized direct instruction.
Currently I am working with a group of at risk students on a school policy reform project in which we are integrating various internet tools at the different phases of the project. We used a few different meta search engines to do the initial research. Next, we used a website with interactives for organizing, planning and preparing for the presentation. Will will soon be using google docs and/or powerpoint to produce the actual presentation materials. Dan B.
I use technology in my lesson presentation with a projector and a tablet PC, but am working on learning ways to integrate student use of technology (beyond graphing calculators) in my classroom.
On a regular basis, my students do their work on wikispaces.com, a free wikispace that is pretty easy to use. My students use it mainly as a collaboration station, and a platform for peer editing and publishing of their work. One nice thing about wikispaces is that it allows many widgets or gadgets, including embedded youtube videos and audio podcasts. Wikispaces is not as polished looking or user friendly (read "not so many bugs") as PBworks (formerly PB wikis), but part of their experience, I figure, is working within the constraints of a program that is not entirely friendly.
As of this semester (Spring 2010), I am attempting to get my sophomores, a very squirrely and visual bunch, to use Prezi, the right-brained version of Powerpoint. While less automatic, musical, and snazzy as animoto, it does require students to make their own pathways between artifacts, an exercise in evaluation and creation, at the top of Bloom's pyramid.
I use tablets in my classroom on a daily basis. Students use them for various purposes from taking notes to experimenting with statistical software and collecting data from websites.
There are many ways in which I integrate technology. My students are constantly typing papers and vocabulary. They use word processing the most. They will soon be creating a digital book report using a prezi. My students have a set of criteria in which they must incorporate into thier prezi, but their design on the prezi will be their own and how they set up their path and they are allowed to incorporate pictures if they so choose.
I integrate technology in my classroom just about everyday. I have access to a tablet that I use daily. My school also has a classroom set of tablets available. Just last week my students used the tablets to explore all the smart board software. They created their own interactive review for the class.
Some of the ways that I integrate technology are the following: creating lessons with an interactive white board for activities, presentations, or games, using interactive Web sites (toondoo.com, voicethread.com, vuvox.com, etc.) to create projects, allowing students to collaborate on a wiki or a ning site for the class, and for homework assignments (google docs, conjuguemos.com, quizlet.com, etc.). Technology becomes more important everyday!
Recently, I had my U.S. History class work on the wiki page that I created for their class. I hope to have them complete several group assignments on the wiki.
I'm hoping to learn more ways to incorporate technology as a school counselor especially through our career and financial aid presentations. 6 years ago I created all of our departments presentations using powerpoint. These presentations are quickly looking outdated and I would like to find some ways to spice them up.
I am trying to integrate technology in my classroom as much as possible. I use my Smartboard everyday, and we regularly visit websites to view science animations and simulations to help the students better understand a particular concept. I've also recently integrated some new programs such as screencasting and Prezi (which they love - thanks Andrew and Theresa!). I am also launching a PBWiki for my students to use during their Mousetrap Car Project.
